ACM focuses attention on the discipline of Information Technology (IT).

SIGITE leads the charge in creating a venue for discussions on IT education as well as the creation of IT research. IT as an academic discipline is quite new but is now distinguished by ACM as well as IEEE as a peer in the menu of computing disciplines along side computer science (CS), information systems (IS), and computer engineering (CE).
